What is your mission and who do you serve?
Our mission: Stark County Job and Family Services supports the community by protecting, stabilizing, and strengthening individuals and families.

We are a triple-combined Agency, housing Child Support Enforcement, Child Protective Services and Human Services/Public Assistance. We serve a variety of individuals and families based on household circumstances and need.

In the Human Services Division, we determine eligibility for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, Ohio Works First (OWF) cash assistance, Medicaid, Medicaid-related transportation services, Subsidized Childcare, and many other programs. We also serve as the licensing connection between the State and In-Home Child care providers and operate work activity programs for those who are in receipt of SNAP and/or OWF assistance.

What is one thing someone might not know about your organization or is unique about your organization?
Our Agency funds several programs with community partners, including Car Repair Assistance via the United Way and an Expungement and Certificate of Qualification for Employment program via Community Legal Aid.

Our Agency has an Employee Enhancement Committee (EEC). Every year, we partner with a philanthropy via our committee and support their mission during that year-long period

How do you work in partnership with the OhioMeansJobs Centers?
Our Work Activities area is a mandated partner for the Comprehensive Case Management & Employment Program (CCMEP) and refers individuals under 25 for CCMEP services. Individuals receiving SNAP and/or OWF are sometimes referred to the OMJ Center for various services and assistance while seeking employment. Many individuals in our work activities are required to register with OhioMeansJobs.com and to create their own backpack. The Agency is able to use the Prime System for referrals to various programs and services – and is able to receive referrals.
