What is your mission and who do you serve?
We serve those in the greater Stark County area who wish to further their education. We currently have 5 programs: Medical Assistant, Medical Insurance Billing & Coding, Practical Nurse Program, State Tested Nurse Assistant, and Welding. Our mission is to provide the personal and professional development skills for adult learners to obtain industry credentials for career employment in Northeast Ohio in-demand jobs, and future success in life!
What is one thing someone might not know about your organization or is unique about your organization?
This year, we received the Ohio Reach Postsecondary Designation grant through the Ohio Children’s Alliance. This grant helps us offer intentional opportunities to those with a history of foster care, kinship care, and out-of-home placement! We have been able to provide community, mentorship, and practical support to help these students as they complete their programs and set them up for success!
How do you work in partnership with the OhioMeansJobs Centers?
When those who receive services from OhioMeansJobs are interested in furthering their education, they are referred to us! We work with them to see if our programs are a good fit for their goals and guide them through the enrollment process. Several of our current students who will graduate this June were referred to us by OMJ! We continue to utilize our partnership with OMJ by inviting staff to speak with our programs about essential and professional skills and referring students to OMJ services when appropriate.
