What is your mission, and who do you serve?
We are the rape crisis center that serves three counties: Stark, Tuscarawas, and Carroll. Our mission is to promote the healing of individuals impacted by sexual violence and to create social change. We serve all survivors and co-survivors of sexual violence. A co-survivor is someone who has a relationship or association with someone who was directly impacted by sexual violence.
We offer a 24-hour hotline for survivors and co-survivors to have an empathetic and trained advocate to answer questions or simply listen to their experience. We offer completely free trauma-informed counseling. We have a qualified team of prevention educators who go into school environments and teach developmentally appropriate curriculum to kids surrounding healthy boundaries, relationships, consent, and being an upstanding community member. We also offer police, judicial, and hospital advocacy for survivors who want additional support as they navigate the events following an instance of sexual violence.
In all that we do, we aim to be non-judgmental and empathetic towards survivors. We believe survivors when they disclose sexual violence, and want to empower them on their healing journey.
How can someone access your services/resources? Are there any eligibility requirements?
Our services are accessible by calling our offices. Our phone number for Stark County is (330) 452-1111. Our number for Tusc & Carroll County is (330) 339-2504. If someone is a survivor of sexual violence or has any relationship with a survivor, they are eligible for our services. It doesn’t make a difference if the assault occurred recently, or 20 years ago, we are available to help.
How do we access more information about your organization and any special events/initiatives?
We have social media pages on Facebook & Instagram where we talk about special events we are holding. We also have our website where you can access information such as services we offer, survivor testimonials, and contact information for groups that are interested in us coming out and presenting on a variety of topics.
